Canara Bank Quarterly Net Profit Declines 7.76 Percent


New Delhi, May 10 (IANS): Canara Bank Thursday posted a decline of 7.76 percent in net profit at Rs.829 crore for the quarter ended March 31 against Rs.898 crore during the like period of the previous financial year.

The total income stood at Rs.9,036.75 crore during the quarter under review, up 23 percent against Rs.7,350.59 crore during the year ago period, the bank said in a regulatory filing.

For the year ended March 31, 2012, the bank posted a decline of 18.5 percent at Rs.3,282.72 crore against Rs.4,025.89 crore during the year ended March 31, 2011.

Total incomes during the year under review stood at Rs.33,778 crore, up 31 percent against Rs.25,751.53 crore during the previous year.

The gross non-performing assets ratio stood at 1.73 percent during the quarter ended March 31, 2012, as against 1.49 percent during March 31, 2011.

At the Bombay Stock Exchange, the shares of the bank were 0.30 percent lower to trade at Rs.405.55.
