Udupi, May 12: The foundation stone laying ceremony of the Employment and Skills Development Building of Government ITI, located at Pragati Nagar, Alevoor, was held on Friday April 11.
Kaup MLA Lalaji R Mendon laid the foundation stone. The building will be constructed at a cost of Rs 60 lac.
Speaking on the occasion, Mendon said that technical studies have plenty of job opportunities in the fast-moving world. He hoped that Pragati Nagar grows into a technical hub like Manipal which has already grown as an international medical and healthcare centre.
Udupi Chamber of Commerce and Industry president Prasad Raj Kanchan, Alevoor gram panchayat president Harish Kini, Gujjady Prabhakar Nayak, Nirmiti Kendra project manager Arun Kumar, and Government ITI principal Jagdish were present on the occasion.
