Udupi: Thieves Decamp With Over Rs 2 Lac in Jewellery, Cash From Residence

Udupi, May 13: Valuables and cash amounting to Rs 2.10 lac was stolen from the house of a businessman in front of the petrol bunk near National Highway 66 in Katpady, Udupi.

The house belongs to Arnold D’Silva who is a trader in Udupi. The thieves broke into the house through the main door and took away jewellery worth Rs 2 lac and a sum of Rs 10,000.

The theft occurred while the family was in Mumbai to attend an auspicious occasion from Saturday May 5.

The culprits made use of this chance and stole the valuables. The theft came to light on Friday May 11 when the family came home. Sources said that duplicate keys were used to commit the crime.

Inspector Shivanand Walikar, Gowrishankar, and other police personnel arrived at the spot. Kaup police have taken up the case for further investigation.
