Bangalore, May 16: The State Government’s failure to provide basic infrastructure in six government medical colleges in Karnataka resulted in Medical Council of India (MCI) denying 240 post-graduate medical seats, alleged JD(S) floor leader in the Assembly H D Revanna.

Revanna said government medical colleges in Mandya, Hassan, Shimoga, Raichur, Belgaum and Bidar would lose 40 post-graduation seats each on account of neglect of facilities required to start courses.

All these colleges were sanctioned during the Congress-JD(S) coalition regime headed by Congress chief minister N Dharam Singh.

Noting the pitfalls of BJP Government in the State, the JD(S) leader alleged that the Government failed to take up measures to counter drought in several districts.

Taking exception to former Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa’s statement that Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda has maintained close ties with the JD(S), Revanna said ``We have not demanded denotification of any lands.”

 Yeddyurappa himself made Sadananda Gowda as the Chief Minister sidelining Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Minister Jagadish Shettar, the JD(S) leader said.

Even as the farmers started preparation for sowing following pre-monsoon showers, Revanna said there was shortage of seeds of all crops everywhere.

The party had not staged demonstrations in front of the Chief Minister’s residence on account of former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda’s illness. ``We will go on the warpath against the Government as soon our party’s national president recovered,” he said.
