Mangalore, May 15:
The BJP’s candidate for the upcoming elections to South West Graduates’ constituencies of Karnataka legislative council D H Shankarmurthy said that he is confident of winning for the fifth time after making it during 1988, 1994, 2000, and 2006. He was addressing a press conference at the district BJP office on Tuesday May 15.

Shankarmurthy added that it was during his 20-month term as higher education minister that 184 government degree colleges started operating in the state with Mangalore obtaining two colleges.

He said that he has campaigned in Shimoga, Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Chikmagalur, and Kodagu and two taluks Channagiri and Honnalli of Davanagere district, all of which fall under the southwest graduates' constituency, consisting total numbers of 50,000 enrolled graduates and the response was good.

Shankarmurthy asserted that victory will be of the BJP and reasoned that political commotion has nothing to do with development work carried out by the state government.

MLC Captain Ganesh Karnik, deputy speaker Yogish Bhat, BJP leaders Padmanabha Kottari, Monappa Bhandary, and Shreekar Prabhu were present.
