Bantwal: 3,000 Children Eligible for Class I at Unaided Schools Under RTE

Bantwal, May 17: “Three thousand children are eligible to join Class I in the taluk, as unaided schools had to enroll 25 percent of students under the Free and Compulsory Education (Right to Education (RTE)) Act of 2009,” said Block Education Officer (BEO) K Sudhakar.
“Preparations are under way by the taluk education department to effectively implement the RTE Act. Thirty-three unaided schools that are functioning in the taluk had to admit 25 percent of students. During 2010–11, a total of 1,231 students were admitted in Class I in 33 schools. On the basis of this information, 311 children had to be admitted in these schools to fulfill the 25 percent quota under RTE Act,” added Sudhakar.
“A meeting was convened at the BEO office for heads and correspondents of unaided primary schools recently in this regard. A circular issued by the state education department has been displayed prominently at Tahsildar’s office, CEO, and taluk panchayat besides in all gram panchayat offices to take an earnest interest in implementing RTE Act in the taluk,” he said.
