Mangalore, May 18: “In order to hide the illegal activities and failure of governance, the state government is playing dirty games of politics”, said the members of Communist Party of India (CPI) while staging a protest here in front of DC’s office today, on Friday, May 18.

They also demanded the release of Vittala Malekudiya and his father Lingappa Malekudiya who are put behind the bars on the pretext of having naxal links.

Under the leadership of senior reformer and member of legislative assembly BV Kakkila, a memorandum was submitted to the DC.Kakkila urged the government to immediately release Vittala and his father and also asked to support his education and withdraw all the cases.

There are so many officials and authorities who indulge in illegal activities in broad day light and not get caught. These laws are made to be followed only by the poor, he added.

The government has failed to do the needful. By catching innocent people, the government is trying to divert the attention of the public from the larger scale of corruption within its body, he said.

The existence of naxalism or other social evils is mainly due to the lack of administration and poor governance. The tribal people of Chhattisgarh, Bihar, Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, including Karnataka are chased in the name of development and mining, BK Krishnappa Said.
