Udupi: Preparations On for Two-Day District ‘Krishi Utsav’

Udupi, May 19: The preparations are underway at Nehru Maidan, Palligudde, the venue of the district ‘Krishi Utsav’, a two-day farming festival organized by the district Krishi Utsav committee and zilla panchayat, to be held on Saturday May 19 and Sunday May 20.

A mega stage has been erected at Nehru Maidan, Palligudde, on the directions of Kashinath Shenoy Katpady and the agricultural accessories and equipment is traditionally placed systematically to educate the viewers on the rich heritage of farming since contemporary times.

Hundreds of stalls have been erected by various departments and other enterprise besides food stalls for the benefit of visitors.  The venue has been set for farming machinery, cattle show, canine show, and peasants–farming experts’ sessions.
 
The district Krishi Utsav will be held for the first time at Katpady under the guidance of district Krishi Utsav committee honorary president Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala Dharmadikari Dr D Veerendra Heggade and third finance task force committee chairman A G Kodgi.

 Arrangements are Underway for Over 20,000 Visitors:
 
“In the backdrop of the forthcoming legislative assembly polls, Krishi Utsav will be inaugurated by a local progressive farmer at 10.30 am on Saturday.  Arrangements are underway to accommodate over 20,000 visitors at the two-day Krishi Utsav,” said K Satyendra Pai, youth leader and executive president, district Krishi Utsav committee.
 
A cultural extravaganza including Tulu play and Yakshagana will be held on Saturday and Sunday evenings.
