Mangalore, May 21: Dakshina Kannada Block congress paid homage to the former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi on his 21st anniversary in city, here on Monday May 21.
Rajiv Gandhi was assassinated on the very same day May 21, 1991 at Sriperumbudur in Tamil Nadu during an election campaign. Speaking on the occasion, District president Ramanath Rai recalled the contributions of Rajiv Gandhi to the nation. He mentioned his efforts in bringing forward our country to the superior level.
"To bring youth and students in the political field, Rajiv Gandhi brought down the eligibility of voting from 21 to 18", Ramanath Rai added.
Ivan D’Souza, Suresh Balla, Ex-MLA Vijay Kumar Shetty, Mayor Gulza Banu, Shashidhar Hegde, Ashraf, Hilda Alva, office bearers TK Sudhir, Farooq Ullal, Kripa Alva and others were present during the programme.
