Mangalore: Devadiga United, SS Creations Disburse Scholarships to Students

Mangalore, May 27: SS Creations in association with Devadiga United, a Facebook group of Devadigas organized a charity show at Town Hall on Friday May 26.

As part of the programme, the community recognized as many as 15 needy students and distributed scholarships worth Rs 70,000 to aid their further studies.

Addressing the gathering, K Chitharanjan, president of Sri Brahma Bydarkal Garodi advised the students to make good use of the scholarships. "There are many groups mushrooming these days to help young aspirants, and we too look for students who have the desire to study. In many of the cases we see that the money given to such students, instead of reaching home, is misused for recharging mobile phones," he added.

He also requested the students to study well and support the next generation. He asked them to think of not only medicine and engineering professions but urged them to opt for other streams too.

Dr Ganesh Sanjeev, in his presidential address extended his support to the community. "The charity show has created a desire in me to give something back to the society," he said.

Rohan Montiero, MD, Property InfraTech Pvt Ltd, Prakash Sherigar, proprietor, Avinash Mosaics and Prakash S Devadiga, director of Agri gold, Mangalore region also spoke on the occasion.

Prior to the stage programme, a clipping was show on the feedback and opinion of the 15 students. The beneficiaries shared what they wanted to become in the future. The clipping was so good that each guest mentioned in their speeches that they were touched by the presentation.

Karunakar M H of SS Creations and Pavanesh Devadiga of Devadiga United were present on the dais.

Praveen compered and Prashanth thanked the gathering.
 
‘Badhukuna Sadhi’ a Tulu comedy drama by Devdas Kapikad was staged on the occasion.

    As I say, there were Devadigas who supported this Charity show, and Devadigas who opposed it. And all of us are united in appreciation for our organizers, and our hopes for Devadiga Family
