Russian Postal Workers Poisoned by Toxic Parcel


Moscow, May 31 (IANS/RIA Novosti): Police in Russia's Siberia region are looking into reports that postal workers at a railway station were poisoned by a toxic parcel.

The incident took place in the central Siberian city of Tomsk, the interior ministry said Wednesday.

Police arrived at the scene and found a package emitting "a harsh smell".

A total of 17 people were evacuated, three were hospitalised and another six are undergoing additional checks, the Tomsk region emergency ministry said.

Their symptoms include nausea, vomiting and giddiness.

Experts are working to identify the substance and who sent it, police said.
