Mangalore, Jun 2: Rahim Uchil, president of state Beary Sahitya Academy and general secretary of district BJP minority morcha on Friday June 1 said that the KFD organization was behind the March 15 attack on him.

"The miscreants were well aware of my daily movements and attacked when I was alone in the office, leaving me brutally injured. It’s because of my friend Riyaz who rushed me to the hospital and efforts of my doctors that I have recovered," he said, addressing a press meet.

Uchil said that he had been receiving threat calls, including from outside India, to quit the party as well as Beary Academy since long. "One of the miscreants among 9 is under police custody and the investigation is going on. The reason behind my attack will still remain a mystery until investigation is complete," he said.

He also said that 10 members will be appointed to the Beary Academy. The list of the members will be disclosed soon by the government in the coming weeks.

"Beary Sahitya Academy has also urged for a new 'Beary Bhavan' and chief minister Sadananda Gowda has responded positively. The plot near Padil is ready for the construction. The proposal of Beary Bhavan is kept before Mangalore City Corporation," he informed.

Registrar of Karnataka Beary Sahitya Academy, Umarabba among many others were present.
