Karkala: Photographer Caught of Robbing Valuables, Cash Seized

A professional photographer, who used to rob jewels, cash and other valuables during the functions he attends like house warming, marriages etc, was arrested by the Karkala police. Jewels worth Rs 2.25 lac was seized from him.

The culprit is Subash Kotian (28) a resident of Borkatte, Miyar village, working for a studio near Sanoor.

It is learnt that the jewels of his owner’s kid, which included four finger rings and a laxmi belt, which was kept in the cash drawer was found to be missing from past few days. As he was leading a luxurious life, especially by the means of betting, his owner on suspicion logged a complaint against him with the Karkala city police.

Starting investigations on this regard, police caught him near Bola, arrested and registered case against him.

Laxmi belt, eight finger rings, bracelet, chain, two chains with pendent, two mobile handsets, Rs 5000 cash and a bike was seized from him.

He was working as a photographer from past two years. It is said that he used to rob jewels especially from children in the functions he attended and used to keep these jewels on mortgage in his name, take cash and lead a luxurious life.

Karkal cities PSI, Pramod Kumar along with other staffs were successful in catching him. SP Dr Boralingayya, DYSP Jayanth Shetty and circle inspector, Valentine D’Souza team have taken up the case. Investigation is on.

The accused is taken into judicial custody for 15 days.

    This is a point to be noted that he never sold the jewellery kept them on mortgage no one checked may be if he never paid the money back the lender might use the jewellery to make some other ornament's, secret will not be out. Very good idea.
