Germany to help Pakistan set up Prosecutors' Academy

Islamabad, Jun 3 (IANS): A German organisation will help set up an academy for prosecutors with international trainers in Pakistan's Punjab province.

The Punjab prosecution department and police Saturday signed an agreement with GIZ --the German Society for International Cooperation, the Daily Times reported Sunday.

The project titled "Support to the Punjab Prosecution Service" is funded by the German Federal Foreign Office. It will be jointly implemented by the GIZ and the Punjab Prosecution Service.

The agreement was signed by Punjab Prosecutor General Sadaqat Ali Khan, Additional Inspector General Malik Khuda Bakhsh Awan, and Khola Iram, team leader of the project.

The project is aimed at providing technical assistance for training prosecutors in the province for the next two years.

Prosecutors would be trained by national and international trainers. Training sessions would also be held for police officials.
