Udupi, Jun 4: The Karnataka state legislative council election is scheduled to be held on Friday June 15. Advocate S L Bhoje Gowda, has been chosen as the JD(S) candidate for Southwest Graduates’ Constituency and Panchakshari, has been chosen as candidate for Southwest Teachers’ Constituency.
S L Bhoje Gowda is a practicing lawyer in Chikmagalur and JD(S) Chikmagalur district president.
Speaking at a press meet he said that the chairperson of state legislative council D H Shankaramurthy and Capt Ganesh Karnik have failed to understand and solve the problems faced by educated youth from past four terms. “The problems faced by the teachers - related to pay revision is also neglected. He never worked for the people by his own. He was a fiasco ruler though he had a chance to rule for 24 years. He is paid for not serving the public and the voters will teach them a lesson”, he said.
“The duos are unable candidates with the zero achievement in their tenure. They have not organized any programmes related to education in the region. BJP candidates have failed to respond to problems”, he added.
State Government had established many new first grade colleges, pre-university colleges and as many as 1,045 high schools during H D Kumaraswamy's tenure as chief minister, but the existing chairperson would not even know the names of the schools, head masters, or any graduate he helped, said Bhoje Gowda.
According to him, the government should have a system where an individual gets convocation immediately once he finishes the degree by the government. He opposed the three year gap to enrolment after convocation. He said that a few days back, U R Sabhapathy of JD(S) openly told the media that graduate convocation are not his responsibility as they are educated and they know how to get it done. He considered this to be a shameful statement.
He also questioned regarding the measures taken by BJP to improvise or include all the graduates enrolled.
Mahendra Kumar, Chikmagalur district party president, Louis Lobo, taluk president of International Federation of Karnataka Christian Associations (IFKCA), candidate for South West Teachers' Constituency Panchakshari, party leaders P R Srinivas and M Srikanth among many others were present.
