Udupi, Jun 6: Minister for home and transport R Ashok on Wednesday June 6 expressed confidence that the BJP candidates would win the upcoming election to the Legislative Council from the graduates' and teachers' constituencies.

He was speaking at a press meet after campaigning for BJP MLC election. He said that Capt Ganesh Karnic (deputy chairman, NRI forum Karnataka, and member of legislative council, Karnataka) and D H Shankarmurthy (Legislative Council chairman) will win the election like before not because of the others’ support (party) but due to their own work.

“Member of Legislative Council Y A Narayanaswamy, Ram Chandra, and Karnic have been successfully leading this position for 30 years and it will continue,” said Ashok.

He said that the Congress is facing internal problems and hence they are campaigning is not on par. When asked about one of the independent candidates who said that the BJP is misusing its power and position for campaigning, he said that it was all a lie and was misleading the public.

Regarding the law against tinted films in vehicles, he said, “It is not the party’s decision to take out the tint, we are just obeying the Supreme Court order,” and added that he believes the public know how to follow the rules.
