Mangalore: Met Department Warns of Heavy Rainfall, Rescue Teams on Alert

Mangalore, Jun 8: The meteorological department has issued heavy rainfall warning in Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Uttara Kannada districts over the next 48 hours.

Strong onshore winds from south-westerly to westerly direction with speeds occasionally reaching 45-55 kmph are likely to hit Karnataka coast during the next 24 hours.

Fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea.

Depcoms are on alert and are keeping a close watch on all vulnerable areas.

Control rooms will be fully operational and rescue and relief teams will be on standby to handle emergencies.

    MANGALOREANS WILL HAVE A TOUGH TIME WITH THE CLOGGING OF DRAINS AND ARTIFICIAL FLOODS WHICH WILL CAUSE HAVOC TO THE HOUSES LYING IN LOW LYING AREAS.HOPEFULLY THEY WILL BE SPARED OF THIS ORDEAL AND DISASTER.HOPEFULLY PEOPLE ARE NOT TROUBLED TOO MUCH WITH THIS NATURAL PHENOMENON

    Rescue teams on alert. Please publish your land line/mobile numbers to the public in local newspapers so that people can get in touch with your rescue team. Also be equipped with oxegen, ambulence, water, machinary, pen, notebook, safety shoes, hose pipe with water, lights, helmet, gloves, uniform etc.
