Kasargod, Jun 9: Litterateur and poet Kayyara Kinhanna Rai was felicitated on his 98th birthday at his residence ‘Kavita Kuteera’, Kayyar, Peradala, near Badiyadka, on Friday June 8. It was organized under the aegis of Karavali Sanskrutika Pratistan.
Kannada activist Vatal Nagaraj felicitated Rai on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Nagaraj said that Kannada still lived on in Kasargod district because of the service of Kayyar Kinhanana Rai. He said that the struggle to unify Kasargod with Karnataka created a history and urged that the ‘Rastrakavi’ title be conferred on Rai.
Karavali Samskrutik Pratistan president Shivaram Kasargod, K Vaman Rao Bekal, Madhukar Rai Korekkana, and Mahin Kelot were present.
