Udupi: Woman Robbed of Gold Worth Rs 2 Lac

Udupi, Jun 9: A lady was robbed of gold ornaments worth Rs 2 lac by unidentified persons who entered her house on the pretext of wanting to drinking water.

The incident occured on Saturday June 9 afternoon at the house of Jayanti Kini (70), at Lala Lajpat Rai Road, near Kunjibettu Sharada Kalyana Mantapa.

Three unidentified persons came to Kini's house in the afternoon asking for water. When she turned to bring the water, the trio overpowered her and forcefully snatched the gold ornaments from her and also looted the gold in the house before fleeing.

Police said that the robbers decamped with 12 sovereigns of gold worth Rs 2 lac.

Udupi SP Dr Boralingaiah, DySP Dr Prabhudeva Mane, circle inspector Girish, and other police personnel arrived at the spot along with fingerprint experts and a dog squad.

Udupi police have registered a case.
