Mangalore, Jun 13: ‘Baliyendra Dand’, a union of Tuluvas was formed on Sunday June 10.
At a press conference held on Wednesday June 13, William D’Silva, spokesperson of the union introduced the elected office bearers of the union - Vasudev Bolur, honorary president, Peroorujaru, president, Yusuf Wakthar, secretary, Raghu Shetty, chief, Kamala Gowda, president of women wing.
He told reporters that the union has put forth demands like renaming Mangalore as Kudla, high court bench for the city, reservation of jobs for deprived classes of the society, to include the life story of Baliyendra in Tulu text books, to build a memorial of Baliyendra in Tulu Bhavan, among others.
