Mangalore: Nitte Engineering College Graduation Ceremony Held

Mangalore, Jun 17: The graduation ceremony of undergraduate second autonomous batch of engineering (2008-12), MTech (2010-12) and MCA (2009-12) of Nitte Mahalinga Adyanthaya Memorial Institute of Technology, Nitte was held on Saturday June 16 at 10 am in the institute campus.

After honoring the graduates with their degree certificates, chief guest Dr T C Shivashankar Murthy, vice chancellor, Mangalore University addressing the gathering said, “After three decades of independence, the economy growth of our country has been expanded because we could able to produce great scientists and engineers. Including agriculture, we have been excelling in areas like space technology, information technology, biotechnology, nano technology and so on and by the year 2050, India will number one among the advanced countries in the world.”

“Education is not just an academic development of the country. It should help to develop good characters in the society and graduates should involve themselves in doing good things for the benefit of the society”, he added.

After felicitating the toppers with gold medals, N Vinaya Hegde, president, Nitte Education Trust and chancellor, Nitte University in his presidential speech said, “It is not the end of the knowledge journey. Every day we have to learn something new. Involve yourself in the work assigned to you. Do it with pleasure. Be a good human being. Respect your parents and elders.”

Dr S Y Kulkarni, principal welcomed the gathering and placed the college report before the audience. Dr Niranjan N Chiplunkar presented the students for handing over the certificates of M Tech. Dr K M Hegde, director, MCA presented the students for handing over the certificates of MCA.

Dr Srinivas Rao, controller of examinations proposed the vote of thanks. Shalini compered the programme.

Dr Sudhaker Nayak, registrar, Nitte University, Dr M S Moodithaya, director, global initiatives, Nitte University, professor AVM Ramesh Karnik, director, JKSHIM, Dr Yuvaraju B N, Dr M K Parashuram, Dr Vaman Rao, Dr Sudesh Bekal, Dr Seetharam Shettigar, Dr Subhramanya Bhat, Dr Arun Kumar Bhat, Dr Shashirekha Rai, Dr Janardan Nayak, professor Vasudeva Shettigar were present on the dais.

During this occasion, 586 undergraduates and 156 post graduates in engineering received their degrees. The rank holders of various branches of engineering are:

Taskeen Salim Shedde (biotechnology); Bhagyashree (civil engineering): Swathi A Nayak (computer science engineering); Mehanaz (electronics& communication engineering); Swathi Hatwar H (electrical & electronics); K S Shwetha (information science engineering); U Vivek Shenoy (mechanical engineering).

Post graduate: 
Deepa (computer science engineering); Jennifer Charlotte Saldanha (electronics & communication engineering); Pushparaj A Naik  (civil engineering); Rashmi (mechanical engineering); Shetty Chaitra Gautam (MCA).
