Netherlands Coach Suggests he may Lose Job

Kharkiv (Ukraine), Jun 18 (IANS/RIA Novosti): The Netherlands early exit from Euro 2012 after losing all three group stage games could cost coach Bert van Marwijk his job, he suggested Monday.

The result meant that the Netherlands finished last in the group stage for the first time at a major tournament after a 2-1 defeat to Portugal followed a 1-0 loss to Denmark and a 2-1 reverse against Germany.

"I just lost a third game at the tournament, you should ask me all questions but not about my future," van Marwijk said.

"But I signed a contract till 2016 not until 2014."

Germany beat Denmark 2-1 in Sunday's other game to top Group B, the so-called Group of Death, with three wins out of three.

Portugal will face the Czech Republic in the quarterfinals, while Germany will play Greece.
