Boxer Mayweather Biggest Grosser, Woods Third on List

Washington, Jun 19 (IANS): Tiger Woods fell to third in the list of the 100 highest-paid athletes released by Forbes magazine, trailing boxers Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao.

The former number one golfer, who had topped the Forbes list since 2001, made $59.4 million last year, $16 million less from the previous year and by half since his peak in 2009, reported Xinhua.

China's tennis star Li Na, alongside with Russia's Maria Sharapova, was one of the only two women having cracked the list.

Sharapova was 26th at $27.9 million, and Li was 81st overall at $18.4 million.

Mayweather, earning $85 million off two fights last year, topped the list, while Pacquiao was second on the list with $62 million from earnings and endorsements.
