Moodbidri, Jun 21: In a startling incident, a man killed his wife and their newborn baby with a sickle in the hospital bed, here on Wednesday June 20 night. She had delivered a baby boy at the Community Health Centre on Tuesday June 19.

The deceased has been identified as Jayanthi, daughter of Thodar Narayan and Rajeevi of Yedapadavu. The incident reportedly took place on Wednesday night as the mother and the baby were resting in the hospital ward.

On Wednesday night at 10.55 pm, Jayant, her husband, allegedly hacked them to death and fled the spot immediately. He threw the weapon near the hospital gate.

The baby, however, survived the attack and has been admitted to a hospital in Mangalore with grave injuries.

It is learnt that Jayanthi's mother Rajeevi and sister were sitting beside her. As it was a general ward, there were many people who witnessed the scene. However, no one dared to come forward, as he threatened to kill everyone.

Jayant is a mechanic by profession. He married Jayanthi a few months ago. They had pre-marital relationship during which Jayanthi became pregnant, and therefore they were forced to get married.

Police Department should issue shoot to kill order since this person doesn’t have any place in civilized society. It is always true that once a murderer always a murderer so chances are very high that this person sprawls on others too. Since country like India do not ute people on time, better he should be put behind bar for ever so that our society is free from cruel person like him
