Moodbidri, Jun 23: Jayant, wanted for the murder of his wife Jayanti at Community Health Centre here on Wednesday June 20, has been arrested.
He had killed his wife who had just delivered their son at the hospital. He attacked the newborn too, but it survived.
Jayant was found near a public well at Yedapadavu. The locals who spotted him informed Bajpe police who arrived at the spot and later handed him over to Moodbidri police. He has been admitted to the ICU of Wenlock hospital in Mangalore.
Hospital sources told Daijiworld that he was brought in an unconcious state and his condition was critical. It is suspected that he may have consumed poison or a high dose of sedatives.
The couple had a pre-marital relationship and Jayanti was five months pregnant when they got married. At first Jayant had refused to marry her, but was forced to after the intervention of Bajpe police.
