Udupi, Jul 2: “There is no 'dead end' for any news. The same news can be interpreted in different perspectives,” said journalist Asha Krishnaswamy.

Asha Krishnaswamy was speaking after inaugurating Kannada Press Day programme was organized by District Working Journalists’ Association at Baliga Memorial MIA Auditorium on Sunday July 1.

“Real news is losing its significance when undue emphasis is laid on irrelevant news. The readers find it difficult to trust when news is slipping from their attention just like a lighted lamp is placed on a dividing wall. It’s dangerous of the readers to mistrust the media report,” said Krishnaswamy.

“Media persons in cities and towns have an edge over their counterparts in rural areas which has led to declining reports on human aspects. The report based on investigative journalism with proper records will save the reporter from future consequences,” added Krishnaswamy.

“Journalists have to grow by keeping abreast with technology. If they lag in making use of technology, it will stunt growth. The media should voice the grievances of people who are defiant about technology,” she said.

Senior journalist S K Shyam Sundar said that if a journalist is not updated, he would not be able to make a crisp report for the readers. “The media should develop by making optimum use of technology,” he added.

The District Working Journalists’ Association president Kiran Manjanbail presided over the programme.

DySP Dr Prabhudeva Mane was present on the occasion. Senior journalist Madhav Acharya was felicitated on the same occasion.

Association secretary Jayakar Suvarna welcomed the gathering. Prasanna Gaonkar compered the programme.
