Bangalore: Exit DVS, Shettar to be Sworn in on July 9?

Bangalore: Exit DVS, Shettar to be Sworn in on July 9?

From Our Special Correspondent
Daijiworld Media Network - Bangalore

Bangalore, Jul 4: Even as the official word on resolving the political crisis that had gripped Karnataka and the ruling BJP in the last few weeks is yet to come, speculation is ripe that the ever-smiling Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda may not have reason to smile anymore as he might be asked to make way for former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa’s one-time-enemy and present favourite Jagadish Shettar. Not only that, it is reliably learnt that Shettar, who is yet to return to Bangalore, might be sworn in as the next chief minister on Monday, July 9.

However, given the fact that the formula for finding a solution for the State’s political crisis will still have to be approved by the BJP Central Parliamentary Board, which has former deputy prime minister L K Advani as its working president, there could still be delay especially in view of the strong opposition of Advani for yielding to any pressure tactics or blackmail from the Yeddyurappa.

The Chief Minister D V Sadnanada Gowda and State BJP President K S Eshwarappa, who have been camping in Delhi for confabulations with the BJP high command after the nine rebel ministers, including Shettar, who had submitted their resignations to the Gowda ministry on June 28 as part of Yeddyurappa camp’s strategy to build pressure on the BJP national leadership, withdrew their resignations, have returned to Bangalore last night irself.

However, Shettar has been asked to stay back for further consultations with the national leadership.

According to informed sources, the BJP high command has decided to give to Yeddyurappa’s demands and effect a change of leadership in the State. Under the formula that has been hammered out by the BJP national leadership, Gowda may be asked to put in his papers to pave the way for Shettar’s installation.

However, Gowda will be asked to take over as the State BJP president as part of the strategy to ensure that he is suitably accommodated and also to prevent Yeddyurappa from gaining complete control over the party unit. Incidentally, though Yeddyurappa has managed to get his man installed as chief minister, he will not be able to gloat over his victory as the compromise formula that is being talked about suggests that the present state BJP president K S Eshwarappa, who will be vacating his post, will be accommodated in the cabinet and given the status of being the Deputy Chief Minister so that there will be sufficient checks and balances against Yeddyurappa from steamrolling the Shettar ministry to do his bidding.

Incidentally, the State Legislature session is likely to be summoned to meet from July 16 for the budget session under the new chief minister and also for the July 19 presidential polls.

Meanwhile, the Balachandra Jarakiholi and other ministers and legislators loyal to Gowda are still exerting pressure on the BJP high command not to dethrone the chief minister without any valid reasons or corruption charges against him. The Jarakiholi camp has even threatened to quit. But these threats may not cut much ice with the BJP high command as it seems to be more concerned with retaining Yeddyurappa’s pull over the politically powerful LIngayat community to which both Yeddyurpapa and Shettar belong during the forthcoming assembly polls.

''We don't know what will be sweet or what will be bitter. That will take four to five days - we still don't know...but from my part it will be neither sweet nor bitter. It is part of daily life. I am ready for any decision. I will not treat any decision as either sweet or bitter,” said Gowda, who had indicated in the morning that he may be on the way out.

"Jagadish Shettar has brought the political situation to the attention of our leaders. In the same way Chief Minister Sadananda Gowda and party president Eshwarappa have also spoken to them. There have been two rounds of talk in Delhi. In a few days there will be a solution to the political developments," said Basavaraj Bommai, a minister and Yeddyurappa loyalist, who also belongs to the Lingayat community.

Bangalore: Karnataka CM Hints that his Exit Might be Imminent

Bangalore, Jul 4 (PTI): For the first time after the B S Yeddyurappa faction demanded his scalp, Karnataka Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda hinted today that his exit might be imminent, even as he sought to highlight the achievements of his 11-month rule.

The party's central leaders have told warring factions that a decision on leadership issue would be taken in the next four-five days, Gowda told reporters after meeting members of the public at his home-office "Krishna".

"I, (Jagadish) Shettar, (K S) Eshwarappa (state BJP president) have told the central leaders that we will abide by their decision. They said they will take a decision in four-five days", said Gowda, who returned here last night after consultations with the central leadership.

He indicated that he would take any decision in his stride.

"I won't treat any decision in my favour as sweet or bitter if it's an adverse decision. I would take it as part of day-to-day activities", Gowda said.

The Chief Minister then went on to highlight the achievements of his Government in the last 11 months.

Gowda said he got an opportunity to lead the Government for 11 months and he discharged his duties very successfully and honestly and there is no "black mark" during his rule.

He has not given any opportunity - either to the Governor or the opposition parties - to point a finger at him. There was no taint and people have "accepted" his administration, Gowda said.

Gowda also sought to showcase the right to services act "Sakala", enacted during his tenure, and noted that more than 45 lakh applications had been disposed of in just three months.

Mr Baliga, BJP lost Udipi polls as the Congress candidate has built a good rapport with people, Yeddy playing politics and not canvasing, using his people to derail BJP and finally the BJP candidate was very weak and had a bad image among the population. Not to mention the malpe rave party which created huge embarrassment for BJP. Lets not forget BJP came to power when DVS was the BJP president so even his contribution is there. people will not support corruption. They will now show sympathy to Shree Sadananda Gowda who has support from all sections of society. His 11 months of rule were stable and without any scams. He got quite a few development projects and initiatives passed.
Yeddy and gang have false circulated rumors and lies to discredit and malign DVS. I hope people of Karnataka who are enlightened teach these immoral thugs a good lesson in the next elections. Hard to imagine a party like BJP with past leaders of the caliber of Atal Bihari Vajpayee now having goondas like Yeddy.

If it is so, the party members have nothing else to do, other than fully engaged in the leader ion process day and night while drawing fat salary from the tax-payers. In 2012 Udupi-Chikmagalur bye election, DVS could not led the BJP party to victory, eventhough the same was held by him prior to that. Then howcome one can expect, under his leadership BJP will come to Power in next general elections? Last time he won in Udupi because of Strong base of Hindutva Cadre in Udupi constituency. Here ordinary layman can win election under the name of BJP. Inspite of this he could not retain Udupi Lokasabha Seat in 2012, that shows his inability to lead the party to power. One more thing in Karnataka minus BSY, BJP is big Zero

In the present rule they are leading the state to a 3rd CM and what else shame we Kannadigas can expect from this religious based party. Pure Politics. All state leaders should take from Karnataka ministers how to play politics. They have no time to sort out their own issues and who is bothered about development of the state. WE SEE SEVERAL COMMENTS THAT OUR BEAUTIFUL KARNATAKA STATE SHOULD BE LIKE GUJARAT, GOA FALANA FALANA but where is the time with our ministers to develop the state. JAI HO KARNATAKA. ''This patch up wont work even for a month! The funny thing is that Yeddy wants to teach a lesson to both Sadananda Gowda and BJP for not listening to him and Jagadeesh Shettar has a long cherished dream of becoming CM. Everybody knows the relationship between Shettar and Yeddy before this opportunistic alliance! Both of them belong to the same community and both will try to woo their community and this itself will create problems!. Secondly Yeddy will want Shettar to listen to him as he is neck deep in troubles with so many cases against him and It may not take too much time before Shettar realises Yeddy is dictating him too much and will do what Sadananda did to Yeddy! Keep him away!. Once this happens Yeddy will start his antics again and then will ask Shobha to be made CM and so on and so on this drama will continue when just near the elections BJP will hold a rally to show their unity!. Then people will again vote BJP and next five years will enjoy a new drama!''

DVS is to Karnataka as CM as AB Vajpayee was to India as PM. Both had good track records. By giving in to the whims of the corrupt Brigade under Yedii, the BJP has hit The last Nail in the coffin - BJP is finished in Karnataka and what has happened here should be an eye opener to the people of India. The agenda of Yeddi and Team is to get a man of their choice as CM (1) to manipulate records (now that things are being exposed) (2) Make as much money as they can in the remaining time left.

The whole of BJP rule in Karnataka has been mired by one scandal after another and the list is endless. The spineless top brass of BJP has been a mute spectator to all that has happened. BJP rightly advocates Hinduism cause this is the only religion that has several castes and sub castes and today we see in Karnataka CASTE politics - welfare of the voters and the public is no priority for these selfish goons. ALL OF THEM WILL SUFFER MISERABLY. The curse of the common man will prevail. For us middle class people life has been a nightmare under the Yeddi Gang who have let loose terror on the streets of our beloved Kudlaa, their saffronisation policy will back fire. Better DVS starts a regional party with like minded people, he will surely have the support of the educated Hindus and all of the minorities.

BJP is doing one good thing in Karnataka. They are planning to install maximum number of chief ministers during thier short tenure in karnataka politics before the election. This will be their achievement and slogan for the forthcoming election. Mr. Gowda has drawn up a huge budget for spending in a short span of time. The next chief minister in waiting will go through for an year and by that time, he will be dethroned.Government or no government, common man has to foot all thier hotel bills and airfare. The final results, the commom man become poorer and poorer day by day and the politician become richer and richer day by day. This is democracy and freedom for we poor indian citizens. Finally development in Karnaraka is ZERO from BJPm heros....

I salute Advani for his truthfulness. He did not gave appointment to Shettar till now. He is waiting outside his door. Jagdish Shettar cannot be better as he is grabing CM chair by blackmailing. Yeddy is a tough politician. He won't give up. He want Shettar to be CM so that after general elections if BJP gets majority he could be the CM again. But that day will never come. His political career is finished. My sympathies are with DVS, he should join congress, where justice prevails under the leadership of Mrs. Sonia Gandhi.

BJP wants persons who will fill their individual coffers as well party coffers, they need cheaters, they need goondas, they need scamsters and they need persons who do not do their job when elected.
That is why DVS is going - he very well knows, continuing in that post, he'll lose his credibility. It is better he thought to accept that spineless high-commands decision.

CM D V Sadananda Gowda is doing an outstanding job as CM of Karnataka and should complete his term. He is a great leader, supports every community and worked diligently for the welfare of the common man.
Why should CM D V Sadananda Gowda resign? It was Yedi who was in prison for corruption. It is Yedi who is involved in mining scams. If Yedi is the role model for the ten ministers who resigned recently, it speaks a lot about them. If the High Command wants to remove honest DVS to appease corrupt Yedi and his chelas the death of BJP is around the corner.

Words are inadequate to express CM Sadananda Gowda, has wonderfully rendered his duties to the best of all defferent communities of the Karnataka state, being faced so many obstacle, and disturbence from his own party state leaders and few members.,
All communities was respecting BJP earlier days that the BJP is the only one party in India, they are not for the chair or money, but for the better life of the citizens of the Nation.Today they are totally ignored the faith & hope of 6crore kannadigas, who made them to rule this state, with a hope of better life, for each and every one. There was good openion,as wellas hope on MAJI.CM,Yediyurappa......today he himself driven the party to a level
....to say nothing is remained. AtLeast present CM was trying to patch up the things and was trying to make the people of karnataka to forget and forgive, the past. Now the same Ye...ppa with his some supporters seems to be hunting CM Sadananda gowda from his seat.,for his personel benefits. Hence some of the party people neglecting the welfare of the state, for their own benfits, they fight like animals, and not allowing the leader to drive the damaged party image to somehow the people of the state to forgive & forget the past. Many of the BJP leaders, today not respecting their own party founder leaders, will they respect, the person who want to contribute something better to the people of the state....? No..NEVER. BJP Chapter, will remain closed in karnataka, in the coming elections.....!

Still enough time to correct your self.Indian people has the best policy, ability, capasity of FORGIVENESS,WHOLE world agree with this. Pls correct yourself and give good administration to the people of the state. Then only you will be blessed.

I remember the great former Chief Minister Ramakrishna Hegde who had led the BJP-Janata Combine to victory in early 80s used the election slogan "Do you want to be ruled from Delhi or from Bangalore" which really touched the sentiments and pride of the citizens of Karnataka....but if now DVS has to go because of High Command it is a clear insult to the pride of the Citizens of Karnataka....and I do hope the Citizens of the state promptly rise up and very strongly revolt against it.

Everyday we see a new drama with a new twist and brand new statements coming from the ministers which has become a routine for the people of Karnataka. Development in the State is a far cry. For sure the days of BJP is numbered in the State.

If they make Shetter as CM then it's all because of money power of Yediyurappa. BJP high command is acting like a slave of Yediyurappa. Too much of caste politics in BJP. Lingayath, Vokkaliga and what all criteria's being used to be the CM of Karnataka. Development is the least concern. Those corrupt are getting laurels from BJP high command. Shetter will be puppet of Yediyurappa. Now BJP cannot accuse congress by saying PM is Sonia's puppet. All these political parties are one and the same.
