Udupi: New Office-bearers of Lions Club Shirva-Manchakal Assume Charge

Udupi, Jul 4: The installation ceremony of new officer-bearers of Lions Club, Shirva-Manchakal was held recently at Hotel Milan, Shirva.

The president of the Club, Ln Ronald Menezes welcomed the gathering. The secretary, Ln Gregory Fernandes presented the brief Report of the activities of the Club. Ln Norbert Machado introduced Ln Sapna Suresh, the installation officer and Ln Wilson Rodrigues introduced Valentine Dsouza, circle inspector, Karkala, the guest of honour.

Ln Sapna Suresh very systematically conducted the installation ceremony of the newly-elected office-bearers for the year 2012-13 and advised them to maintain the dignity of the Lions Club International.

Guest of honour Valentine Dsouza in his inspirational speech asked the members to help the poor and to arrange awareness programmes which are beneficial to the society.

Financial assistance of Rs 5,000 was handed over for the medical treatment of a sick and needy person. Rs 5,000 was awarded as scholarship to five students of Don Bosco Kannada Medium School, Shirva.

Ronald Menezes, Gilbert Dsouza and RaghavendraNayak were honoured by the guests for their unselfish service to the society. Newly-inducted president Ln MelwynAranha spoke on the occasion.

Leaders like Ln ShridharaShenava, Ln N M Hegde, Ln Dinakara Shetty, Ln Lawrance D'Souza, Ln Panduranga Achar, heads of the various educational institutions, local leaders were present. Ln Wilson Dsouza was the master of the ceremony. Ln RamanandaShettigar, secretary of the Club proposed the vote of thanks.
