Udupi, Jul 4: Dr Dilip G Naik, associate dean, Manipal College of Dental Sciences, Mangalore has been appointed Dean, Manipal College of Dental Sciences, Mangalore, with effect from July 1.
He takes over from Dr V Surendra Shetty, who has been made pro-vice-chancellor to look after the Mangalore campus of Manipal University.
Dr Nayak is an alumnus of MCODS, Manipal. He obtained his BDS in 1983 and MDS in 1986. Having joined in 1987 he is a founder staff of MCODS, Mangalore. In between he had stint of eight years at the Al-Arab Medical University, Benghazi, Libya. After his return he was elevated to the post of associate dean in 2000.
He has undergone training in oral implantology at Germany. He was instrumental in the establishment of Melaka-Manipal Dental College at Malaysia. He has several national and International publications to his credit and has conducted various national and international clinical trials. He has authored a popular textbook in dentistry. He was the national vice president of Indian Society of Periodontology for two consecutive years.
