Udupi, Jul 6: The spate of deaths due to drowning continued unabated on Thursday July 5, with yet another student, this time a foreigner, meeting a tragic end at Thottam beach.
The deceased has been identified as Miloez Lachowski. He is said to be from Poland.
It is said that he and five of his friends, of whom only one was an Indian, had been to Thottam beach for a swim after visiting Malpe.
Miloez and one of his friends reportedly ventured far into the sea and were washed away by the waves. Some of the fishermen who were around rushed to their help and managed to save the other student, but Miloez could not be rescued on time.
Fire brigade personnel could not trace the body until night.
His other friends who came out safely are two students of Poland, one from India and one from Tanzania.
The foreign students had come to Manipal on a student exchange programme.
