Moodbidri: ‘Sri Harimaye’ Animated Yakshagana VCD Hits Stands

Moodbidri, Jul 6: “The animated Yakshagana will be helpful in creating an interest among the children about mythological scriptures. The animation in Yakshagana will be an effort to promote Yakshagana to a large number of viewers,” said Harikrishna Punaroor, former state president, Kannada Sahitya Parishat.

Punaroor was speaking at the screening of ‘Bhava’, Kannada movie  by Shree Collge, during the release ceremony of VCD on Yakshagana ‘Sri Harimaye,’ an animated Yakshagana episode, during a function held at Amarasri Theater on Wednesday July 4.

Raymond D’Cunha, editor of ‘Pingara’, Kannada weekly, was the chief guest on the occasion. He said that animation in Yakshagana is a milestone in Tulunadu folk art.
 
Sadanand Shetty Kateel said that animation in Yakshagana is an attempt to get a wide spectrum of viewers. Shreyas S Hegde, Mumbai’s young artiste, was felicitated during the programme.

Animation technician Santosh Shetty, Kateel, ‘Bhava’ Kannada movie producer and director Prakash Kabettu, and Amarasri Theater manager Gerald Coutinho were present on the dais.

Ashalata compered the programme.  Soumyasri S Ajekar proposed the vote of thanks.

‘Bhagya’, Kannada prize winning movie by Prakash Suvarna Katpady and animated Yakshagana were screened free at the theater for students of various schools.
