Kasargod, Jul 7: Thieves targeted a house in Kumbla in broad daylight on Thursday July 5, decamping with jewellery worth Rs 6.5 lac.

The house is owned by Ramakrishna Bhakta and is located near Veera Vittal temple.

Bhakta is employed as an accountant in a company at Mangalore. His wife Vidhyalata has gone to her mother’s house located nearby, at noon on Thursday. Their two children had gone to school. When Vidhyalata returned home at 2 pm on Thursday, she found the front door broken open and jewellery missing. The theft took place between 12 pm and 2 pm.

The thieves decamped with gold chains, eight rings, three bangles, three coins, two bracelets, altogether weighing about 28 sovereigns, 7.33 kg of silver jewellery and utensils, cash amounting Rs 15,000; altogether worth over Rs 6.5 lac.

Kumbla sub-inspector P Narayanan and circle inspector T P Ranjit arrived at the spot along with fingerprint experts and canine squad. Kumbla police registered a case in this regard.
