Mangalore: Robbers Throw Chilli Powder on Man, Rob him of Rs 1.14 Lac

Mangalore, Jul 8: Two unidentified persons riding a motorbike stopped an auto rickshaw and snatched a briefcase containing over a lac of rupees near Ullal on Saturday July 7.

Ibrahim of Thokkottu was travelling in an auto rickshaw carrying Rs 2.62 lac in a briefcase. He was going towards the bidi collection centre to make payments to bidi workers. Sources said that he used to travel every Saturday with a big sum money to make payments, and this was noticed by the robbers.

As the vehicle approached Islahi educational institutions, two men in a bike threw chilli powder into the eyes of the driver and Ibrahim and fled with the money.

When Ibrahim tried to pull back the suitcase from the duo, the two men fled with a few bundles of money amounting to Rs 1.14 lac.

A case has been registered at Ullal police station.
