Mangalore, Jul 8: As a part of the anti-malaria drive, the Mangalore City Corporation (MCC) officials raided a construction workers’ shed at Shaktinagar on Saturday June 7.
It is learnt that around 200 laborers of a construction site in Kulshekar lived in the tent in a very poor condition at Shakthinagar. They were workers of CCL Constructions; a Chennai based company and were from various places like Jharkhand, Bihar, Kolkata and others, said Srikanth Rao.
The team has collected blood samples of 82 members out of which two are said to be infected by Malaria. MCC team found the construction site to be unhygienic and the area has become a breeding ground for mosquitoes.
The deputy Commissioner in a recently meeting had given guidelines to prevent Malaria and the raid was carried according to his order.
