New Greek Government Wins Confidence Vote

Athens, Jul 9 (IANS/RIA Novosti): Greece's new coalition government led by Prime Minister Antonis Samaras has won a vote of confidence in parliament.

The coalition, which consists of three parties - right-of-center New Democracy led by Samaras, left-of-centre PASOK and leftist DIMAR, was backed by all 179 deputies from the three parties, RIA Novosti reported early Monday.

The government has pledged to fulfil commitments made to the European Union and the International Monetary Fund but to seek a break from austerity from the creditors at new talks with them.
