Beijing, Jul 14 (IANS): Descendants of the Von Trapp family, which inspired the 1965 classic movie "The Sound of Music", starring Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer, will soon tour China for a musical performance.
The current Von Trapps is a choir group formed 11 years ago that performs traditional European and American folk songs. It comprises siblings Sofia, Melanie, Amanda and Justin von Trapp, Xinhua reported.
Their great-grandfather was Captain von Trapp, the man who served as the inspiration behind the stern naval officer who found love with the help of a singing nun in the 1959 Broadway musical and the 1965 film adaptation.
The group's China tour starts July 26 in Beijing, followed by another eight cities, including Shanghai, said Hermark Culture, organiser of the event.
"The Sound of Music" is famous for its songs like "My Favourite Things", "Do-Re-Mi" and "Sixteen Going on Seventeen". It won a total of five Academy Awards including Best Picture.
