Paris Saint-Germain Signs Brazilian Defender Silva

Paris, Jul 15 (IANS): French Ligue 1 football club Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) announced the signing of Brazilian centre back Thiago Silva from Italian club AC Milan.

"Silva has been transferred from AC Milan by Paris Saint-Germain for a duration of five years," the club said in a statement posted on its website Saturday.

No details were given on the agreement's value but media reports said PSG would pay 62 million euros (about $75.94 million) to sign the 27-year-old defender, reports Xinhua.

Playing in Italian Serie A for three seasons, Silva is considered as one of the world's best central defenders.

Paris Saint Germain was one of Europe's top-spending clubs last season, spending more than $130 million on new players.
