Chennai, July 17 (IBNS): Indian Cricket team skipper MS Dhoni on Tuesday said the team wants to perform well in Sri Lanka and make a good start to the season.
"It is the start of the season for us and definitely we will want to start it on a good note," Dhoni said at a press conference here on Tuesday ahead of the team's departure for Sri Lanka.
India will play five One Day International (ODI)s and a T20 in Sri Lanka.
He said the cricketing conditions in Sri Lanka 'are not too different'.
Speaking on the the short series against Pakistan on Indian soils in December, Dhoni said: "As a professional cricketer that is what we are supposed to do. We have to go on the field and try to win every game. Specially if it is against Pakistan, it is bit tough, but that is what we are supposed to do."
Dhoni said a good team and not an 'extraordinary' skipper can produce results.
"An ordinary team with an extraordinary captain cannot win the World Cup," he said.
The Indian side will leave for Sri Lanka on Wednesday.
