Team Anna may Contest 2014 Polls

Anil Sinha, New Delhi, Jul 23 (DHNS): Team Anna is seriously toying over the idea to contest elections in 2014 by floating a front under their leadership. According to sources, some Team Anna members are also thinking to jump in to the fray.

The structure and other details of the proposed front are yet to be decided, say the sources.

“Some Team Anna leaders including Arvind Kejriwal and Kiran Bedi have long been considering this option,” said an India Against Corruption(IAC)  insider. According to him, many activists of India Against Corruption has favoured the idea and they themselves are ready to take on political parties. Though the Team Anna members have been debating the issue extensively and engaged some of their core supporters among intellectuals, the issue is yet to come on the formal agenda.

The informed sources also say that many IAC activists have selected their constituencies and they are concentrating on these with “an eye on the Lok Sabha elections in 2014”. They say that one of the senior Team Anna members is considering to contest elections from Himachal Pradesh and another one from Haryana. And, the third one is thinking to chose a constituency from western Uttar Pradesh.

Unusual interest

Team Anna had shown its ‘unusual’ interest in the Lok Sabha by-election in Hisar, Haryana, but invited a criticism from its own supporters. The interest shown in Himachal Pradesh by the Team is also being linked with the electoral ambitions of the members.

According to sources, the team is yet to get a formal endorsement from Anna Hazare, their leader, who doesn’t seem to be opposed to the idea. “Though, he will not jump into the election battle, he will bless his followers,” says an insider.

“Candidates will come out from among the people who are agitated with the existing political parties. A non-Congress, non-BJP front will emerge, and will comprise of  these candidates. Team Anna will support them,” said Kejriwal in an interview to a TV channel.

“If a good alternative emerges, I will support it. Anna will also support it. He will campaign too,” he added.

Your one point agenda is that routing our corruption by introducing lokpal and bringing back black money which is good, but this is not only thing common man is suffering.
Why don’t you support common man to wipe out communalism, caste, power abuse, provide clean drinking water, educate masses to keep India clean. Act against the goondas. There are so many immediate problems which common man faces why don’t you counter those. At least to get a relief for the public. Why you are only behind the lokpal.

It is the wise decision to contest the elections, let the people of India decide how much they support your team and your ideas. Please enroll Baba Ramdev also. It will be very clear than who do the people of India actually support when it comes to real elections. If you get the 2014 election than its easy for you to implement these changes rather to go on frequent fasts and rallies to pressurize political parties. Taking Frequent fast will not have any meaning if the goal is not achieved.

    Dear Mr.Kanan,

You are absolutely right. We must whole heartedly support Anna Hazzare and the his team. Now even main stream media is playing in the hands of the Govt. and down playing every movement against corruption by Anna Hazare. If we common people do not support this time India Against Corruption team, we might lose a good opportunity to fight against corruption and common man will be enslaved to corruption forever. This is the right time and only time. Jai Hind.

Not a good move!! you have failed already because of your double standard with congress and BJP. You cannot change entire country, try to change one by one issues.

To contest 2014 elections by Team Anna is a right decision to root out corruption and see that communal hatred based parties and corrupt parties will be taught a good lesson.

Just try raising your voice against your local corporator, and see how difficult your life becomes. Team Anna is fighting the entire political establishment of the country! They need our (and the media's) full support. Instead just see what is happening. The team is being put to constant scrutiny. If they utter a word 'out of place', they are mercilessly criticized.

The government has let its entire might and all its departments after them. Corrupt politicians and the corruption in media have ensured that their image has been beaten down, and they have been shifted to Page 6 of the newspapers from the front page. Small slips by the team are being magnified to equate them with our corrupt and immoral political class. Are we saying that even if you have paid a 10 rupee bribe to a traffic policeman, you get disqualified from raising your voice against massive corruption like the 2G scam? How self-defeating !

And what is wrong if they have differences between themselves. Even in companies where your survival depends on your bosses you have differences. And this is a voluntary movement. How can it not have differences? The only place in India where you have no differences are some political parties, where the High Command is supreme.
Lastly it does not matter to me what Anna thinks about alcoholism and whether some of his supporters are 'secular' as defined by vested interests. When your house is on fire and people rush to help you, you do not first check their views on Kashmir !! This fight is against corruption at high places - an extremely tough fight. And whoever is willing to support this cause is welcome. This can be won only by sustained fighting by crores of people.
So think a little before you jump into the bandwagon of people criticizing Team Anna. Let us not fall into this trap of the corrupt politicians and the corrupt media. Let us do our two penny worth for a good cause.
