Mangalore: One of a Kind 'Cordel Youth Cafe' Seminar Organised by ICYM

Mangalore, Jul 23: Youth and Cultural Committee along with ICYM Cordel unit organized ‘Cordel Youth Cafe', a seminar for the youth of Cordel Church held at Cordel Hall here on Sunday Jul 22.

The program was jointly inaugurated by Dr Robert Miranda, the Bishop of Gulbarga and Fr Valerian Pinto, parish priest of Cordel.

               


In his inaugural address, Bishop Miranda said this sort of program was organized for Bishops by CBCI and by All India Youth conference and he was very happy to witness that Cordelites are organizing such a creative program.  He said that the ‘voice of the youth is the voice of society’. 

He also pointed out the importance of Christian values and discipline in our day to day life. It is because of conducting such quality based interactive programs, Cordel church has been able to deliver many stars at the state as well as national level, he said.

Speaking on the occasion, Fr Pinto said that this seminar is a first of its kind in Cordel. The seminar comprises of games, music, and discussion and as the name Cafe indicates, it will also include lot of snacks and fun. He said this type of program will be a solid base for the formation of leadership in the parish, diocese and the nation level.  He appreciated the organizers of the program for conducting such an innovative program to reach the youth.

The seminar also included discussions and interactions on topics such as Christian Faith –our tolerance with other faiths, my role in my parish, inter-cast marriage, role of today’s youth in Indian unity.

Fr Alwyn D’Souza, immediate past national director of ICYM, Praveen Patrao, vice president of Cordel church, George D’Souza, secretary of Cordel church, Sushil Noronha, diocesan leader and ICYM animator, Prem D’Souza, ICYM president, Ancita D’Souza, secretary, Ashwin Noronha, program convener of ICYM were present on the dais.

Sherly Cutinha compered the program; Prem welcomed the gathering and Ancita proposed vote of thanks.

Fr Rupesh Madtha, Fr Roshan D’Souza, assistant parish priests of Cordel, Noel D’Souza, ICYM co-animator, Melwin Fernandes, YCS animator, Nelson Monis among others were present.

The forenoon session with interactions and discussions was conducted by Fr Alwyn and afternoon session had games and fun conducted by Floric Lobo.
