Mangalore: Folk Dance Workshop by Tulu Sahitya Academy Inaugurated

Mangalore, Jul 28:
A day long workshop on folk dance organized by Karnataka Tulu Sahithya Academy and Yuva Vahini, Sasihithlu branch was inaugurated at Bala Bhavana, near Kadri Park here on Saturday July 28.
 
Kanthu Lakkana Gurukara (Yadava G Bangera), managing trustee of Shree Saranthaya Garodi Ullaya Temple, Sasihithlu inaugurated the programme. He said that the traditional folk practices carry greater importance in our life. Bhootharadane and Kola among other customs play important role in Tulu culture, he said.


Shreekanth, president, Yuva Vahini, Sasihithlu presided. Umanath Kotian, president of Karnataka Tulu Sahithya Academy, DDPI Moses Jayashekar, Shakuntala A, Kishore K Bejai, Lion Sanjiva M Shetty among many others were present.
 
On the occasion Pramila Kapikad, recipient of Kitthur Rani Chennamma Award was honoured.
 
Later workshops on folk dance were conducted in four different sessions.
