Free Raksha Bandhan Ride to Women, Kids in Haryana


Chandigarh, Jul 31 (IANS): Women and children will be allowed free travel in state Roadways buses in Haryana Thursday (Aug 2) in view of the Raksha Bandhan festival, an official said here Tuesday.

"In view of Raksha Bandhan Aug 2, the Haryana government has decided to again allow free travel facility to women, along with their children up to the age of 15 years, in ordinary buses of Haryana Roadways," he said.

The facility for women and children will be allowed throughout the state as well as for journey from any place in Haryana up to Delhi and Chandigarh, the official said.

He said that over 11 lakh women and children had availed of the free travel facility for the Raksha Bandhan festival last year (2011). Women and girls tie a Rakhi to their brothers on this festival.
