Bangkok: Thai Kannada Balaga Award Conferred on Rons Bantwal

Mumbai/Bangkok, Aug 5: Thai Kannada Balaga, Thailand on Saturday August 4 conferred the 'International Person of the Luminaries' on Mumbai's young and dynamic journalist and Daijiworld Mumbai bureau chief Rons Bantwal during the seventh International Cultural Festival held at Howard Square Programme auditorium in Bangkok, Thailand on Saturday August 4.
The international fest was jointly organized by Thai Kannada Balaga, Thailand, international cultural committee and Indo-Thai community.
MLC D S Veerayya inaugurated the programme by lighting the lamp.
Speaking on the occasion, D S Veeraya said that the Kannada Balaga has done a commendable job in introducing Kannada language to other countries. "With the international fest being organized in Thailand, the bond between India and Thailand is strengthened," he said.
On the occasion Kalarathna Dr N Rama Reddy, Bangalore, Dharmapal Devadiga, past president of Devadiga association, Mumbai and Walter D’Souza Kalmady, Maharashtra Konkan association president were conferred with ‘International Man of the Year’ award.
Rons Bantwal, Mukund K R Puram, John Veigas, social worker from Mumbai, M D Nayak Siddapur, Krishna Murthy, Bangalore were honored with ‘International Person of the Luminaries’ award.
Vincent Pinto, director of ICFI advisory committee, Muthuraj Ingalagi, president of Thai Kannanda Balaga, Mohan Das, past president of TKB Bangkok, Rajanna Kolar, president urban co-operative society, Venkatachalapathi, AD department of Kannada and Culture Kolar shared the dais.
Various entertainment programmes was also organized, including magic show by Zee TV fame Anil Gupta, Dashavathara dance drama by Sri Jaya Natya Kala academy, Kolar, Bharathanatyam by Sahana L Shetty and Aishwarya A Revankar, Kannada folk songs by Go Na Swamy Bangalore and Manu, Mangalore and various other programmes.
Manjunath Sagar welcomed, Go Na Swami compered and Sangamesh Badavadagi proposed the vote of thanks.
Suresh Shetty Ballari, president, V G Pai Mangalore, chief secretary, Ram Shiroor (Kenya), E V Sathyanarayan Bangalore, Chethan Shetty, Nikil Noronha, Naveen Pinto, Michael Veigas, Laveen Viegas, S M Farooq, Leo Fernandes Jerimery, Anil Moras, Sujatha Dharmapal among others were present.
