Mumbai, August 9, (PTI): Producer Ekta Kapoor, the director and lead actors of recently released film Kyaa Super Kool Hain Hum were booked after a community forum complained that certain scenes hurt their religious sentiments, police said.
The complaint was filed by Joseph Dias, a Bandra resident and General Secretary of Catholic Secular Forum following which police booked the team of Kyaa Super Kool Hain Hum under IPC sections 295A (deliberate and malicious acts intended to outrage religious feelings) and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention), police said.
"We have registered a case against the producer, director, writer, actors of the film and others under the relevant sections of the IPC, though no specific names have been mentioned," said Bandra police station senior inspector Abhay Shastri.
"We are investigating the matter. Arrests will be made if we find the film producer, director and writer and others guilty," the police officer added.
The Sachin Yardi-directed film is a sequel to the 2006 comedy film Kyaa Kool Hain Hum.
Released on July 27, the movie stars Anupam Kher, Tusshar Kapoor and Riteish Deshmukh from the original cast, apart from Sarah Jane Dias and Neha Sharma in the lead.
"In the film, the priest is shown in a poor light, which makes a mockery of the Christian sacrament of marriage and the faith. It is a misrepresentation of priests and the community. The dialogues with double meaning are unprintable," Dias told PTI.
