Mangalore: Forest Mobile Squad Seize Leopard Pelt, Arrest One

Mangalore, Aug 9: The forest mobile squad arrested a person with a leopard pelt at Nadpal, near Someshwar, Hebri on Wednesday August 8.

The arrested has been identified as 32-year-old Santosh Shetty. The police seized the leopard pelt in his possession.

On a sure tip-off that Santosh Shetty and Ranjit alias Wilson were coming to sell the contraband, Mangalore special police of forest mobile force personnel led by sub-inspector Manjunat K R arrested Santosh Shetty.

Meanwhile, the search is on to trace Ranjit alias Wilson by the police, who registered a case under Wild Animals Act and transferred the case for further investigation by Hebri range forest conservator.

The operation was carried out under the direction of Madikeri forest unit SP A R Anvekar, led by sub-inspector Manjunat and police personnel Sitaram, Umesh Hosolike, Ramachandra Maniyani, Sadashiv, Honnappa Gowda, Narayan and Harischandra Gowda.
