Kundapur, Aug 13: A 20-year-old girl committed suicide by consuming poison here on Sunday August 12 evening at Parampalli near Kota here.

The deceased has been identified as Prathima, daughther of Krishna and Vanaja Poojary, and sister of Pratap and Poornima.

Prakash and Prathima

It is said that Prathima had an affair with a man by name Prakash and married him two months ago at Dharmasthala without the knowledge of her parents. The couple started living in a rented house. She would reportedly tell her parents that she was going to her relative's house and instead stay with Prakash. Her parents grew suspicious and came to know of her marriage.

However, the Prakash's parents refused to accept her, and thereafter, Prakash too is said to have neglected and left her. Unable to deal with the frustration and rejection from all sides, she consumed poison on August 5 and was admitted to hospital. On Sunday she passed away. She also left behind a death note.

A case has been registered in Kota police station.
