Mumbai, Aug 16:  Distribution of annual scholarships to students, talents award and cultural programme was organized by the Devadiga Sangha at Devadiga Bhavan in Nerul, Navi Mumbai here on Wednesday August 15.

Hiriyadka Mohandas presided over the programme. Shree Vidyadeesha Thirtha Swamiji of Palimat Mutt graced the occasion.

The programme began with hoisting of flag by Hiriyadka Mohandas, followed by cultural programme by the children and various committees. Later in the noon, Swamiji distributed scholarships.

Speaking on the occasion, Swamiji said the Devadiga community has always strived hard towards betterment of the society. He wished the Devadiga community to prosper in various fields and activities.

Prabhakar G Devadiga, president of Devadiga Sangha, Pune and Vishwanath Devadiga, secretary of Devadiga Sangh, Nasik were the main guests for the occasion. National athletics like Jayanthi M Devadiga and Surekha H Devadiga were honoured.

Hiriyadka Mohandas also spoke on the occasion and thanked the donors Jagadish Devadiga, Hiriyadka Shreedhar Sherigar, Ratnakar Bayaara, G K Moily for their contribution.

Janardhan Sherighar gave a brief introduction of Swamiji. Malathi Moily briefed the association’s activities, Suresh S Rao and Puspa S Rao offered paadapooja of Swamiji, Suresh H Devadiga and Malathi G Moily compered.

Former president Gopal M Moily, KK Mohandas K Bhujagangadar, vice president Ravi S Devadiga and Vasu S Devadiga, secretaries Padmanab A Devadiga and Rukmini Y Devadiga, treasurers Ramesh B Devadiga and Umesh R Devadiga, youth secretary Shailesh J Devadiga, secretary of women’s wing Sushila Devadiga, among many others were present.
