Mangalore: Lourdes Central School Celebrates Joy of Freedom on I-Day

Mangalore, Aug 17: The Independence Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm and respect at Lourdes Central School. The function started at 9.30 am in the school open ground with a large crowd of staff, students and parents.

The programme was graced by Col Deshpande, Dr Victor Machado, manager LCS, Fr Ferdinand Gonsalves, principal LCS, Ivan D’ Souza, PTA president, Augutstine Rodrigues, vice president parish council, Bejai.

Principal Fr Ferdiand Gonsalves welcomed the guests and also spoke about the great past of India. Chief guest Col Deapande hoisted the national flag. The cultural programme for the day involved patriotic dance by the Kindergarten, a song and a short play by the primary and senior students which enthralled everyone. The chief guest spoke about armed forces, its far reaching benefits and the various ways to be a part of it. 

Kushagra Parmar highlighted about the function re-iterated the words of Dr Ambedkar in his address.  “Let our object be our country, our whole country and nothing but our country”.

The programme ended with the vote of thanks delivered by Belita Mascarenhas.
