Udupi: Rain Damages Road, Houses at Kaup

Udupi, Aug 17: Due to heavy rains, the road that leads to Yermal fisheries and three houses on the way are said to be in danger here on Thursday August 16.

In Uchilla-Badaa, Yermal, huge waves have hit hard and sea erosion is spreading wildly. A fisheries road running parallel to the shore is also extensively damaged, and the waves have engulfed many nearby coconut trees.

In Bada, Yermaal, an electric pole near Rama Kotian and Chandra Kotian’s house is washed away by the sea. Houses belonging to Rama Kotian, Lalitha Puthran and Shankar Mendon are said to be in danger.

The locals have appealed to the officials to start reconstructing the sea walls as soon as possible.

As per the district commissioners order, temporary sea walls will be constructed soon said, Santhosh Kumar, assistant engineer from the Fisheries and Port department.
