Dubai to get 'Green Lab' Running on Solar Power

Dubai, Aug 23 (IANS/WAM): The emirate of Dubai will soon have a "green laboratory" that will run on solar power as part of the UAE government's vision to introduce the sustainability factor in projects and to reduce energy consumption.

The project was given the go-ahead by Minister of Public Works Sheikh Hamdan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan.

The concept is based on provision of sustainable scientific equipment for learners.

Sheikh Hamdan gave his nod at a meeting that discussed the feasibility of replacing electric heaters with solar heaters in a number of sustainability projects under the ministry.

The ministry also seeks to reduce use of energy in implementation of projects, manage sources of pollution and prevent depletion of natural resources.
